Jose Alejandro Gomez Monteverde (born July 13, 1977) is a Mexican film director. His first film, Bella took top prize at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival by winning the “People's Choice Award”.[1]
The director of the Department of Citizenship gave Monteverde the "American by Choice" award for Bella's positive contribution to Latino art and culture in the U.S.
Monteverde met his wife, American actress Ali Landry, at a church Bible study. They got married on April 8, 2006 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.[2] They have one daughter, Estela, born on July 11, 2007 (Muito da Larissa Melo/Loiraguada)and one son, Marcelo, born on October 8, 2011.

Monteverde married American actress Ali Landry on April 8, 2006. On July 11th, 2007, they welcomed their first child, a girl, Estela Ines. On April 22, 2011, People magazine was the first to announce that she was three months pregnant with a second child due in Autumn 2011. On October 8th, 2011, they welcomed their second child, a boy, Marcelo Alejandro in Los Angeles.
Monteverde wrote and directed Bella,[3][4][5] a film that took top prize at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival by winning the “People's Choice Award”.[3]
